I Ching (Yi Jing) – The Book of Changes

I Ching (pronounced as Yi Jing) is also known as the Book of Changes in English. It is the oldest and most intellectual of the Chinese classics that studied the forces of the universe. So before the west studied the astrology, the ancient Chinese has already came out with this.

In China, I Ching (Yi Jing) is also known as the Book without Words. I Ching (Yi Jing) started off with a set of symbols and numbers, and combined with the use of Yin and Yang, to look at the transformation of things in the universe and that includes the changes happening in the environment around us.

Yi Jing

In ancient China, I Ching (Yi Jing) is mistakenly known as a tool for divination. I Ching (Yi Jing) also include, many philosophies, medical, astrology, mathematics, literature, music, military strategies and Chinese martial arts (Wushu).

I Ching (Yi Jing) was later developed further and widely use, not only for divination, but also on Feng Shui, which is the energy field that is surrounding us, in our environment where we work and live. Of course, with spiritual thinkers involved along the way, I Ching (Yi Jing) has been distorted as being superstitious, especially with the common use of hanging Eight Trigrams (Ba Gua) at the main entrance of the house.

I Ching (Yi Jing) contains science researches by the Chinese ancestors, that no advanced science in the world today could surpass its knowledge of the universe. Even scientists today is trying to study and understand the dark matter in the universe, but this is already defined in the Yin and Yang within the Universe in I Ching (Yi Jing)!

History of I Ching (Yi Jing)

I Ching (Yi Jing), The “Book of Changes” is an ancient book since the end of weakly Yin Dynasty. It has been around for nearly three thousands years. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period, it is respected by people, and after the long feudal society, it has been regarded as the sacred classic.

From the Han Dynasty, due to the establishment and development of Confucian Classics, “I Ching (Yi Jing)” became one of the titles of the five classics, and it is first classic of the five. Thus, there appeared a group of specialized commentary “Book of Changes” scholars and researchers, and it became a specialized knowledge, that is easy to learn.

I Ching (Yi Jing)” is a unique way of thinking of the Oriental, it contains a set of thousands of years of Chinese civilization and wisdom, to explore one rationale Heaven Variation law for the purpose of academic system. It has a tremendous effect on the traditional Chinese culture.
